Like many children's boutique owners and those who have created products designed with children (and parents) in mind, {lovechilde} was conceived after I became a parent. I have wanted my own business for many years but it wasn't until my second lovechilde did the dream come to me so clearly.

Prior to becoming a mom, I was the consummate party girl. I loved going out with friends to restaurants and the local hot spots in Washington, DC. When my son came along, I traded in the bottles of champagne for bottles of formula. My late nights consisted of rocking my baby to sleep instead of rocking on the dance floor. Gucci bags became diaper bags and my 4 inch heels went flat. But Iwould not trade any of the party times for the potty times because there truly is no greater joy than parenthood.

{lovechilde} is anti-conformity. I have searched (and continue to hunt) for products that you may not find in your local retail store. These products reflect the parent's sense of style and children's joi de vie. Style should not be lost when you have kids but enhanced or even reinvented. I am also seeking out products that are eco-friendly so that my children's children will be able to enjoy the fruits of the earth.
